We rehearse, everyday In the bowels, of the basement Bill on drums, Bob on bass People say: we’re really ace We rehearse everyday In the bowels, of the basement Plenty of drink, in this space But writing music, isn’t a race! In the basement (la-la, la la la) In the basement (la-la, la la la) We have fun, everyday In the bowels, of the basement Playing our tunes, really loud Exciting the neighbours Ded Leopard split, so we formed In the bowels, of the basement Drum fill! [Chorus]

This loop goes round and round Filling out the sound, with no end And the critics unite as we take up our right If they don’t like these words they can… Roll the bones, say: this song’s a hit Up inside empty minds And we’ve only just met Look out we’re a’coming This army is a’running (Oooh-ooh-ooh-oh) Hear the voices cheering Bill and Bob are nearing A new revelation Eighties generation A new album, a new line of songs We know what we’re doing, sing-along: Seven nation marching Beats which keep on grooving Politics embarching Revolution keeps on moving [Chorus] The sound of nineteen-eighty From Timbuktu to Haiti Pippen-Heart go solo Rock’s the place to go The sound of nineteen-eighty From Timbuktu to Haiti We always have a party And we only just got started! We said we’d fight them off Bill and Bob kicking arse again We scared ‘em off! We have it our own way So me and Bob did our own thing We did it ourselves [Chorus]

Fire Up Girl 17:29
There’s a fire in my heart - And I want you to feed it There’s a flame on my tongue - Only one way to put it out My fingers are burning - And I blame you I’m gonna love you – All night long! Fire up girl! Girl I was up all night And I liked it! Girl I was up all night That’s the way to do it!

about

William Edward Edgar Pippen and Robert Ingrid Curtis Heart, more commonly known as Bill & Bob, had been playing together for just over ten years when debut album 'Ded Leopard' hit the stores (in limited supply).
The strange blend of genres and futuristic lofi experimentation incorporated into the sound production lead to the term 'techno rock' being adopted early onto into the duos career.

Immediately finding an audience abroad due to their bizarre (and seemingly unintentional) quirky British dialect, the first album finds the two veteran musicians (40 and 36 respectively by this point) trying to carve a new musical niche for themselves.

It was Bob who first hit the music scene in 1967 with Bill's brother, Philip Oliver Ogden Pippen. Phil & Bob had minor success with their skiffle-pop tinged folksy love songs. It wasn't until Phil's younger brother Bill joined the two that they took off as musicians opposed to songwriters. The trio embraced the exciting jazz fusion scene of the 70's before hatred between the brothers came to a head, the two splitting acrimoniously. Bob met two upcoming rockers in the meanwhile, joining progressive pioneers Ded Leopard two albums into their short career. Managing to convince all parties they needed one, Bill joined as percussionist in early-'78. It was then that tragedy struck; two days after failing to show for studio sessions, Pippen and Heart's bandmates were found massacred in a hotel room just outside of Slough. Who'd have predicted that from murder, something so majestic could flourish. On schedule, Pippen and Heart completed what would have been the fourth Ded Leopard album. General confusion between band name and album title resulted in the two becoming Bill & Bob, opposed to the latter. It makes sense to separate this from the Ded Leopard back catalogue, Heart and Pippen Jnr. together are their own unique beast.

This debut album sees songwriting meet intriguing arrangement with the best of free improvisation thrown in to the mix. The two would go on to exploit all the elements held within these six recordings over the next quarter-century; all of what was to follow now consigned to techno rock history. Though what better place to start?
