about
Writer Bill Pippen's first ever song was rediscovered and rewritten as an attempt at wrestling the age-old formula of the love song in popular music. Its original incarnation a simple ditty, the 21st Century reworking reflects the disenfranchised motif of Sheep Alert as dissonant string parts cloud the discordant harmony, a haphazard vocal delivery and guitar solo adding to the frustrated madness.
"I often feel indescribable repressed fear which culminates in underlying angst before deafening internal screams take over and I have to sleep or medicate heavily. I tried to get that across on this new version of Falling in Love." (Pippen, 2002)
2010 Remix now available; recreating the Bill's 1967 home demo of the track:

lyrics
I can’t stop falling in love
With you, my friend
I can’t stop falling in love
With you, my friend
Back when we first met
You said, would you like to be my friend
You came to playgroup
We played on the swings together
But you left me
Can’t you see?
[Chorus]
You can’t stop falling in love you say to me
I don’t want it is about you that I like
I don’t see you much anymore
And I’d really, really like to
I can’t stop falling in love
I can’t stop falling in love
[Chorus]
