about
An ill-conceived release date seems to have been the deciding factor in Bill & Bob's attempt to storm the December charts back in '94, frittering into obscurity. The Nineties may not have been ready for "The Bells Doth Ring Out" but its presence on the Ultimate Singles Collection should push this forgotten classic back up alongside the big-boys of the Xmas market. Watch your back Slade.
lyrics
[Bill] Children singing;
It's that time of the year
The bells doth ring out
Christmas cheer
[Bob] The choirboys sound out
A festive tune
On our best behaviour:
Santa's coming soon
Ho-ho-ho
Hey-hey-hey
Spread the news:
It's Christmas time again
[Bill] The Christmas dinner:
"Oh what a delight!"
Screw the diet, savour each bite
[Bob] Munching on turkey
And brussel sprouts
Someone's drunk the gravy:
What's that all about?
[Chorus]
And we hope
That the fire will burn on bright
That the presents are wrapped up tight
Merry times this Christmas nigh'
Bill and Bob's Christmas song
Time to all sing-a-long:
Listening out for Santa (whoo-hoo-hoo)
For it's Christmas time
His sleigh-bells a'clanging
Hear them chime!
[Chorus]
Time for festive food and drink
Hanging stockings by the fire
Eating mince pies by the crate
Drinking mulled wine, getting drunk
Have yourself a very merry
Christmas!
La la la-la, la laa la laa
La la la-la, la laa la laa
La la la-la, la laa la laa
La la la-la, la laa la laa etc etc
