I assumed it’d never happen to me Find a girl who’d make me complete But then Claire Green walked into my life The only girl who made me feel right yeah Claire Green what happened in your life? You said you would be my wife Yet years went by and what came of things? Claire Green I’ll help you find your wings Years went by and what became Of that relationship in which we were raised It pained me to see you slip away But your secrets had to come out one day Claire Green it seemed like yesterday When we were at peace at work and at play Yet years went by and what came of things? Claire Green will you ever find your wings? Claire Green ten years have passed us by Who is that person behind your eye? The stranger I gaze upon a woman no more Did becoming a man help you close open doors? Clive Green I really despise your name No longer do I wonder what’s going On. In. Your. Brain. Strange how people change as time moves on Yet the Claire I remember will forever be a woman You were the love of my life You were my flesh and bones Now we’ve all moved on

The Darkness 05:34
The darkness is in me The darkness is in my heart The darkness is in you The darkness is in your eyes That Feeling is in my mind My senses are going blind Force-fed all these lies Ahead the world dies! The world is spinning faster than us now As we head towards the sun The apocalypse is nearing us Judgement day has come People killing others The murdering of our brothers Blackening of the skies Ahead the world dies! The ringing of alarm clocks That were never set The dying cries of a frenchman As he eats his last baguette The darkness is approaching us The killing time has come A mother sits there crying At the fate of her unborn son The ringing of alarm clocks That were never set The dying cries of a frenchman As he eats his last baguette He eats his last baguette Baguette, baguette The Frenchman eats a baguette

What happened, to Jonah Obiah? We had such a laugh! What happened to those good old days? He knew when the joke had gone too far What happened, to Jonah Obiah? Will we see him again? Remembered as a good old friend Throughout the year a chum Here’s to a friend Here’s to a foe Here’s to a an old man Who would never be sold Where is he, Jonah Obiah? He died in a shed? With cattle around his feet A bullet in his head We’ll miss him, old Jonah Obiah He had such a laugh Until his last few months Since he was kidnapped

Lover's Boat 03:46
There’s a little place down the south of town Where we used to meet The trees are green and the bird they do whistle (Birdsong) And we thought it would never end We thought it would go on forever But you just slipped away Under that heather (Ooh, you left me all alone) There’s a little hole down the south of town Where you lay The people are sombre and the widows scream Cry out meaoooooooooooooow There’s a little place they call Lover's Boat That’s where I want to be Its where the widows scream (in pleasure) There Aphrodite’s love is decreed And I thought I would finally make it I thought I would make it to that boat But it just slipped away When I found out I was impotent

Superstars, today, tomorrow Superstars, today, tomorrow... We first wrote this song When we were young, we were children We fought our way up from the streets Nineteen seventy nine was a memory Of youth and its ways We’d grown up from the jazz, as: Superstars, today, tomorrow We’ll find our way through the troubles As light follows day And as storytellers would say: “The truth of the matter is found deeper” We travelled to the core Left the wanderers gagging for more Yet still we climbed that mountain! We are: Superstars, fighting for tomorrow You find your feet and overcome sorrow! Superstars, today, tomorrow We’ll find our way through the trouble

The end is near, one more song I know what you think: This journey has been long But we've got 9 minutes left (Starting from now) So hit it! Roll those bones (pun intended) Hey baby baby, went down town Hey baby baby, bought myself a gown Hey baby baby, I saw a clown Hey baby baby, he touched my gown Hey baby baby, I went to the park Hey baby baby, I left my mark Hey baby baby, but it got rather dark Hey baby baby, and I got scared This is the penultimate song It’s not really about anything This is the penultimate song It’s just to fill up some unwanted space It’s about a man in a hut Or a dragon in a cave It’s the penultimate some Enjoy it while its on! It’s not the first or the last It’s not the beginning or the end Not the winner or the loser Not the worst or the best Hey lady lady, went to the pub Hey lady lady, met a man called Jacob Hey lady lady, he took me to a nightclub Hey lady lady, and then to scrub his bathtub Hey lady lady, I went to the swings Hey lady lady, to find some aspirins Hey lady lady, we felt like kings Vikings! People going nowhere A bloodbath for kings How do you feel now? We were just ingredients In a terrible soup Do you want a taste? The murdering of the holy one The death of our sins It didn’t work! (Hey baby baby, what d’you think your doin now?)

Power to a powerless mind Brainwaves spreading through time Hatred is all that you feel Daydream of an endless mime You’re not ready Not ready to hide You’re not ready Not ready for time Burning on an open fire Memories of times gone by Bleeding from an open wound Just like when you were born you silly fool! You’re not ready Not ready to hide You’re not ready Not ready for time SOLO! Power to a powerless mind Brainwaves spreading through time Hatred is all that you feel But what do you expect when you know I’m turning the wheel! You’re not ready Not ready to hide You’re not ready Not ready for time etc…

about

Now reinstated as an official album release, lack of funding and nasty superstition led to the 'Unknown' album being available solely in Japan until Bill's death in 2006. Musically it shows much more consistency than their debut through being mostly co-written, although Heart is clearly leading the sound in fine fashion, credited alone for the albums highlights. Allegedly "cursed" upon release, that was the story the duo decided to opt for in response to its limited pressing.

Heart, speaking in 2008 said "the curse isn't complete fiction: Bill actually did believe it to be true. Money was the reason we couldn't get the album out of Japan but it coincided with a turbulent period of touring after the buzz of the first album; things started going wrong. Accidents, sudden illnesses, mysterious equipment damage. I put it down to various narcotic problems we were both going through at the time. Bill attributed it all to a supposed curse. It would take him less than two years to go completely nuts; in retrospect it was probably an early sign of looming madness. Sad life. Good album."
